Hindi to English Translation Exercise 54… ये ऐक्सरसाइज़ Hindi to English Translation Book से ली गयी है, जो कि नीचे दिये गये “Spoken English Guru” English Speaking Course की पुस्तकों में से एक है।

दरअसल, दिवाकर को स्कॉलरशिप तो मिली थी लेकिन इसका लाभ लेने के लिए उससे शहर के किसी बड़े स्कूल में एडमिशन लेना था। इस बात का मतलब यह था कि अब वह अपने सबसे अच्छे दोस्त शंकर के साथ एक ही स्कूल में नहीं पढ़ पायेगा। दिवाकर का तो जैसे दिल ही बैठ गया, उसने कहा कि वह दूसरे स्कूल में नहीं जायेगा। शंकर ने बताया कि उसे इस शर्त के बारे में पता था लेकिन उसने दिवाकर को पहले नहीं बताया नहीं तो वह टेस्ट ही नहीं देता। बहुत देर समझाने और लंबी बातचीत के बाद कहीं शंकर दिवाकर को दूसरे स्कूल में जाने के लिए मना पाया। दिवाकर ने अंत में शंकर की बात मान कर शहर के सबसे नामी स्कूल में अपना दाख़िला करा लिया, इन सब के बीच वह इस बात से अनजान था कि वह उसी स्कूल में दाख़िला ले रहा है जिसमे आरव पढ़ता था। कुछ दिनों बाद स्कूल जाने का समय आया, दिवाकर के माँ बाप जब उसे स्कूल छोड़ने आये तो हैरान रह गए। उन्होंने देखा कि बच्चे बड़ी महँगी – महँगी गाड़ियों में स्कूल आ रहे हैं और सबके पास महँगे फ़ोन हैं। दिवाकर ने अपने माँ पिता से कहा कि उसे यह सब देख कर कोई फर्क नहीं पड़ता, वह अपनी पढ़ाई पर पूरी तरह केंद्रित था। यह बात सुन कर जैसे उन दोनों के दिल को चैन आया, अपने छोटे से लाडले बेटे की समझ – बूझ देख कर दोनों बहुत खुश और प्रभावित थे। दिवाकर का स्कूल में पहला दिन था, वह किसी को नहीं जानता था और उसे पता नहीं चल रहा था कि उसकी कक्षा कहाँ है। उसने जब एक बच्चे से पूछने कि कोशिश की तो उसने अंग्रेज़ी में जवाब दिया, दिवाकर पढ़ने में तो बहुत ही तेज़ था लेकिन उसकी अंग्रेज़ी बहुत ही कमज़ोर थी। उसे किसी से भी बात करने में बहुत ज़्यादा घबराहट महसूस हो रही थी, वह सोच रहा था कि सब उसका मज़ाक उड़ाएंगे।  यह सोचते – सोचते अचानक उसे आरव दिख गया, उसने सोचा कि आरव को तो वह पहले से जानता है तो शायद वो उसकी मदद कर दे। आरव ने जब दिवाकर को देखा तो उसे लगा कि दिवाकर पैसे लौटाने आया है। मिलते ही उसने बहुत ही ऊँची आवाज़ में उससे पूछा कि वह इतने दिन से उसके पैसे ले कर कहाँ गायब था। सब बच्चे पीछे मुड़ के देखने लग गए कि क्या हो रहा है। अचानक ऐसे हुए हमले से दिवाकर सहम सा गया और उसकी आवाज़ ही नहीं निकल रही थी।

Translation

Diwakar had got a scholarship but to take advantage of it, he had to take admission in any of the big schools in the city. This meant that he would no longer be able to study in the same school with his best friend Shankar. It was like Diwakar’s heart sank, he said that he would not go to another school. Shankar said that he was aware of the condition but did not tell Diwakar earlier or he would not have given the test. After explaining for too long and an endless conversation, Shankar could convince Diwakar to go to another school. Diwakar finally accepted Shankar’s request and enrolled himself in the most renowned school in the city, amidst all this he was unaware that he was attending the same school in which Aarav was studying. A few days later, when it was time to go to school, Diwakar’s parents were surprised when he came to drop them off. They noticed that the children were coming to school in huge expensive cars and everyone had expensive phones. Diwakar told his mother and father that was unaffected even after looking at all those things, he was fully focused on his studies. Hearing this, it was as if they felt relieved, both were very happy and impressed after seeing the maturity of their adorable little son. Diwakar had his first day in school; he did not know anyone and could not figure out where his class was. When he tried to ask a child, he replied in English, Diwakar was brilliant at academics but his English was very poor. He felt too nervous to talk to anyone; he was thinking that everyone would make fun of him. While thinking this, he suddenly saw Aarav; he thought that if he already knew Aarav, then maybe he could help him. When Aarav saw Diwakar, he thought that Diwakar had come to return the money. As soon as he met, he asked him in a loud voice where he had been missing after taking his money for so many days. All the children turned back to see what was happening. With such a sudden attack, Diwakar was left wholly stunned so much so that even he was not able to utter a single word.
