Hindi to English Translation Exercise 45… ये ऐक्सरसाइज़ Hindi to English Translation Book से ली गयी है, जो कि नीचे दिये गये “Spoken English Guru” English Speaking Course की पुस्तकों में से एक है।

शिवम इंजीनियरिंग का छात्र था, वह एक बहुत ही नामी कॉलेज में इलेक्ट्रिक इंजीनियरिंग की पढ़ाई करता था। उसके दोस्त उसे बहुत मानते थे, वे सब साथ में ही खाते, खेलते और पढ़ाई भी किया करते। होस्टल में शिवम और उसके दोस्त खूब मस्ती करते थे, सबके जन्मदिन पर सबकी पिटाई करना और होस्टल वार्डन को रात को ज़ोर से गाने बजा के परेशान करना उनके लिए बहुत आम था। सारे लड़के खूब मस्ती करते और परीक्षा के समय इतना ध्यान लगा के पढ़ते की ऐसा लगता की पूरा होस्टल ही सुनसान है। एक दिन क्या हुआ कि शिवम के दोस्त कार्तिक को खेलते खेलते चोट लग गयी। डॉक्टर के पास गए, उसने कहा कि कम से कम एक महीने का आराम ज़रूरी है। परीक्षा सर पर थी, एक सप्ताह बाद से परीक्षाएँ शुरू होने वाली थी। कार्तिक को यह सुनकर पसीने छूटने लगे, पढ़ने में कार्तिक बहुत ही होशियार था लेकिन अब ऐसी हालत में उसका पढ़ना बहुत ही मुश्किल था। कार्तिक ने शिवम से कहा कि इस बार वह परीक्षा में फेल हो जायेगा।  शिवम कार्तिक की बात सुनकर हैरान हो गया, उसने उसकी मदद करने की ठानी। शिवम ने कार्तिक को समझाया कि वह चिंतित न हो और अपनी पढ़ाई पर ध्यान दे। उसकी बाकी सारे काम जैसे खाना लाना या चीज़ें रखना शिवम कर देगा। दो दिन के भीतर कार्तिक होस्टल आ गया, उसे शिवम ने अपने रूम में ही आराम करने बोला। शिवम रोज़ उसके लिए मेस से खाना लाता और उसके साथ ही साथ उसे पढ़ाता भी था। धीरे – धीरे कैसे पाँच दिन बीत गए, पता ही नहीं चला। अब परीक्षा शुरू हो चुकी थी, कार्तिक ने पूरी मेहनत से सारे पेपर दिए और उसे उम्मीद थी कि उसका परिणाम भी अच्छा ही आएगा। आखिर परिणाम उम्मीद से ज़्यादा अच्छा आया। कार्तिक का परिणाम देख कर, उसके शिक्षक थोड़े हैरान थे, आखिर उसे चोट लगी थी तो उसने पढ़ाई कैसे की। जब सबने शिवम के बारे में जाना तो सबने उसकी बहुत तारीफ की और सभी बच्चों को उससे सीख लेने को कहा। कुछ ही दिनों में कार्तिक बिलकुल ठीक हो गया और सारे काम खुद से करने लगा। जो मदद कार्तिक की शिवम ने की, उसके बाद से वे दोनों बहुत ही पक्के मित्र बन गए।

Translation

Shivam was a student of engineering; he studied electrical engineering in a very prominent college. His friends loved him a lot, they used to eat, play and study together. Shivam and his friends used to have a lot of fun in the hostel, beating everyone on their birthday and teasing the hostel warden by playing songs out loud at night. All the boys used to have a lot of fun and at the time of examination, they would study so attentively that it seemed that the entire hostel was deserted. What happened one day that Shivam’s friend Karthik got injured while playing. They went to the doctor, he said that at least a month’s rest is necessary. The exams were approaching, the exams were scheduled to start a week later. Hearing this, Karthik started becoming nervous, Karthik was very intelligent, but now in such a situation, it was very difficult to study. Karthik told Shivam that this time he will fail the exam. Shivam was surprised to hear Karthik, he decided to help him. Shivam explained to Karthik that he should not be worried and concentrate on his studies. All his other things like bringing food or keeping things would be done by Shivam. Within two days, Karthik came to the hostel, Shivam asked him to take a rest in his room. Shivam used to bring food for him daily from the mess and also taught him along with it. Gradually, how five days passed, it was hard to realise. Now the examination had started, Karthik gave all the exams with all efforts and he hoped that his result would also be good. Finally, the result was better than expected. Seeing the result of Karthik, his teachers were a little surprised, after all, he was injured, how did he manage to study. When everyone came to know about Shivam, they praised him a lot and asked all the students to learn from him. Within a few days, Karthik recovered completely and started doing all the work by himself. With the help of Karthik Shivam, both of them became very close friends.
