Hindi to English Translation Exercise 44… ये ऐक्सरसाइज़ Hindi to English Translation Book से ली गयी है, जो कि नीचे दिये गये “Spoken English Guru” English Speaking Course की पुस्तकों में से एक है।

दसवीं कक्षा में दबाव बहुत था लेकिन कबीर बहुत ही होशियार था, उसके लिए ये इतना मुश्किल नहीं होने वाला था। कबीर ने उम्मीद के अनुसार, बहुत ही अच्छे अंकों के साथ दसवीं की परीक्षा पास की। अब सबसे बड़ी समस्या ये थी कि लेह जैसे इलाके में अच्छे स्कूल नहीं थे और ख़ास तौर पर बारहवीं के लिए अच्छी शिक्षा मिल पाना लगभग नामुमकिन ही था। बाहर जाना बहुत ख़र्चीला था, बड़े शहर और बड़े स्कूल में नाम लिखवाने के लिए बहुत पैसे खर्च करने पड़ते और कबीर के पास या उसके माता-पिता के पास इतने पैसे नहीं थे। कबीर सोच में पड़ गया कि अब क्या किया जाए। उसने अपने कुछ क़रीबी दोस्तों से मदद माँगी लेकिन किसी के पास भी इतनी बड़ी रकम नहीं थी कि कबीर की पढ़ाई के लिए वो काफी हो। अंत में जाकर, कबीर को कोई उम्मीद की किरण नहीं दिखी और उसने सोचा कि शायद उसकी पढ़ाई यहीं तक की थी। कबीर बहुत ही निराश होकर अपने पिताजी से कहता है कि वह भी अब उनके साथ रोज़ बकरियां चराने चला करेगा।  पिताजी को यह बात सुन कर गहरा सदमा लगा और उन्होंने अपने एक वकील दोस्त से बात की। उन्होंने कबीर के पिता को एक स्कॉलरशिप के बारे में बताया जो भारत सरकार द्वारा दी जाती है। उन्होंने कबीर के लिए उसके बारे में थोड़ी बात – चीत की। कबीर के दसवीं के नंबर बहुत ही अच्छे थे, इसका उसे बहुत फायदा हुआ और पूरे राज्य से जिन दस बच्चों को स्कॉलरशिप मिली उनमें से कबीर भी एक था। कबीर को जब यह बात पता चली तो उसके लिए जैसे उम्मीद की एक नई किरण जाग गयी थी। कबीर ने उस दिन ठान लिया कि जीवन के इस बहुत ही सुनहरे अवसर का वो पूरा फायदा उठाएगा।

Translation

There was a lot of pressure in class ten, but Kabir was very intelligent, it was not going to be so difficult for him. Kabir, as expected, passed the Class tenth examination with pretty decent marks. Now the biggest problem was that there were no good schools in an area like Leh and it was almost impossible to get a good education there, especially for the twelfth class. It was very expensive to go out, spend a lot of money to go to a big city and enrol in a big school, and Kabir or his parents did not have that much money. Kabir wondered what to do now. He sought help from some of his close friends, but no one had such a huge amount to get enough for Kabir’s studies. In the end, Kabir did not see any ray of hope and thought that his academic career had come to an end. Kabir was very disappointed and told his father that he too would now go along with them daily for goat grazing. Dad was shocked to hear this and talked to a lawyer friend. He told Kabir’s father about a scholarship that is given by the Government of India. He talked a little about that for Kabir. Kabir’s tenth class marks were pretty good, he benefited immensely and Kabir was one of the ten children who got scholarships from all over the state. When Kabir came to know this, a new ray of hope arose for him. Kabir decided on that day that he would take full advantage of this very golden opportunity in life.
