Hindi to English Translation Exercise 43… ये ऐक्सरसाइज़ Hindi to English Translation Book से ली गयी है, जो कि नीचे दिये गये “Spoken English Guru” English Speaking Course की पुस्तकों में से एक है।

भारत में एक पहाड़ी जगह है, लेह, जो कि बहुत ही सुन्दर और अद्भुत है। बर्फ की चादर से वह साल भर ढके ही रहती है, मौसम इतना सुहावना रहता है कि यहाँ पर सैलानिओं की भारी भीड़ रहती है। ऐसी ख़ूबसूरत वादियों के बीच घर था होनहार और विज्ञान में रूचि रखने वाले कबीर का, वह केवल ग्यारह साल का था। उसके माँ – बाप चरवाहे थे, गाय और बकरियों को चराने ले जाते थे, जो उनके दूध से पैसे आते उसी से घर चलता था। कबीर भी अक्सर गाय चराने और भेड़ों को चराने जाया करता था, उसे मन मोहक दृश्य रोमांचित तो करते थे लेकिन उससे भी ज़्यादा उसे आसमान में चमचमाते हुए तारे और आसमान का नीला रंग आकर्षित करता था। कक्षा में भी वह बाकी सारे विषय उतने ध्यान से नहीं पढ़ता था, लेकिन विज्ञान की कक्षा में वह पूरे ध्यान के साथ सुनता था और समझने की कोशिश करता था। एक दिन उसने देखा कि उसके दौड़ने से उसे ऐसा लग रहा था कि चाँद उसके साथ चल रहा था। जैसे ही वो भागता, वो चाँद की तरफ देखता, चाँद को देख कर वो हैरान हो जाता। एक दिन उसने अपने शिक्षक से पूछ ही लिया कि आखिर चाँद हमारे साथ कैसे चलता है? शिक्षक ने कबीर को समझाया कि दरअसल धरती हर समय घूमती रहती है, हर पल चाहे हम सो रहे हों या दौड़ रहे हों।  यह सुनकर कबीर और ज़्यादा सोच में पड़ गया, उसने सोचा कि अगर धरती घूमती है तो हमें पता क्यों नहीं लगता? उसने शिक्षक से यह पूछा तो शिक्षक ने उसे गुरुत्वाकर्षण के नियम के बारे में बताया। कबीर बहुत ही ध्यान मग्न हो कर इन सब के बारे में और ज़्यादा समझने लगा। धीरे-धीरे और चीज़ें जानने और समझने के बाद, कबीर अब और दिलचस्पी के साथ विज्ञान की पढ़ाई करने लगा। चार साल बीत गए और पढ़ते पढ़ते कबीर दसवीं कक्षा में आ गया।

Translation

There is a hilly place in India, Leh which is very beautiful and amazing. It remains covered with snow all year round, the weather is so pleasant that there is a huge crowd of tourists here. Amidst such beautiful valleys, there was the home of sincere and science freak Kabir, who was only eleven years old. His parents were shepherds, used to take cows and goats to graze, the money that used to come from milk was used to make both ends meet. Kabir too often used to go for grazing cows and grazing sheep, he used to be fascinated by the delightful scenes but more than that he was attracted by the blazing stars in the sky and the blue colour of the sky. Even in class, he did not study all the other subjects very attentively, but in science class, he listened with full attention and tried to understand. One day he saw that while he was running, it seemed to him as if the moon was running along. As he ran, he would look at the moon, he would be surprised to see the moon. One day he asked his teacher how the moon moved with us. The teacher explained to Kabir that in fact, the earth rotates all the time, every moment whether we were sleeping or running. Hearing this, Kabir started thinking even more deeply, he thought that if the earth rotates, why didn’t we realise? When he asked the teacher, the teacher told him about the law of gravitation. Kabir became very attentive and started to understand more about all these. Gradually, after learning and understanding more things, Kabir now started studying science with even more interest. Four years passed and while studying, Kabir came into the tenth standard.
