Hindi to English Translation Exercise 41… ये ऐक्सरसाइज़ Hindi to English Translation Book से ली गयी है, जो कि नीचे दिये गये “Spoken English Guru” English Speaking Course की पुस्तकों में से एक है।

हर्षद वर्मा एक बहुत बड़ा व्यापारी थी और उसका करोड़ों का कारोबार था। उसका हीरे और सोने का सूरत में बहुत बड़ा उद्योग था, बाजार में उसका सिक्का चलता था। बड़े बड़े नेताओं से लेकर बॉलीवुड अभिनेता, सबसे उसकी जान पहचान थी। देश के सबसे रईस लोगों में उसकी गिनती होती थी और सब उसकी बड़ी इज़्ज़त करते थे। कहते हैं इंसान का ईमान ही उसका सबसे मूल्यवान वस्तु होती है, न कि कोई महँगी चीज़ या पैसा। उद्योग में कई प्रकार के सौदे और घोटाले रोज़ सामने आते थे लेकिन हर्षद की गरिमा पर किसी भी प्रकार का कोई भी कीचड़ नहीं था। भारत के साथ – साथ जर्मनी, फ़्रांस और इंग्लैंड जैसे बड़े बड़े देशों में भी हर्षद का व्यापार फैला हुआ था। इतने धनवान होने के बावजूद, हर्षद पैसों की लालच में आकर एक गलती कर बैठा। उसे अमेरिका में नए सिरे से अपना धंधा शुरू करना था, न्यूयॉर्क और कैलिफ़ोर्निया जैसी महँगी जगहों पर व्यापार शुरू करना बहुत ही महँगा सिद्ध होता है। कई हज़ार करोड़ की ज़रुरत थी, हर्षद ने सोचा कि कहीं न कहीं से व्यापार में से ही पैसे निकल आएँगे। रकम काफी बड़ी थी और हर्षद बहुत ही आत्मनिर्भर आदमी था, उसने किसी से मदद माँगना सही नहीं समझा।  उसके दिमाग में एक चाल आई , यह गैर कानूनी तो था लेकिन यह करके उसे बहुत बड़ा फायदा होता और शायद वह भारत में सबसे अमीर आदमी भी बन जाता। उसने एक सरकारी बैंक से उधार पर दो हज़ार करोड़ रूपए लिए, उसका नाम बहुत बड़ा था और वह अरबपति था तो उसे पैसे उधार देने में बैंक को कोई संदेह नहीं हुआ। पूरा व्यापार स्थापित करने के बाद हर्षद ने बैंक के एक कर्मचारी को पाँच करोड़ की घूस देकर उस दो हज़ार करोड़ से जुड़े हर कागज़ को गायब करवा दिया। जब बैंक में हड़कंप मचा तो पता लगा कि हर्षद वर्मा के दो हज़ार के उधार से जुड़े सारे कागज़ गायब हैं, सभी कर्मचारी हैरान थे। बैंक कंगाल हो गया और कई मासूम लोगों के पैसे डूब गए जिनमें कई लोगों की मेहनत की कमाई भी शामिल थी।

Translation

Harshad Verma was a renowned businessman and had a business worth crores. He had a huge business empire of diamonds and gold in Surat, he ruled the roost in the market. Ranging from big leaders to Bollywood actors, he had connections with all of them. He was counted among the richest people of the country and all respected him. It is said that a person’s faith is his most valuable thing, not an expensive thing or money. Various sorts of deals and scams used to come up in the industry daily but Harshad’s dignity remained unscathed. Along with India, Harshad’s trade was spread in big countries like Germany, France and England. Despite being so rich, Harshad being greedy for money made a mistake. He had to start his business in America afresh, starting a business in expensive places like New York and California proves very costly. Hundreds of thousands of crores were needed, Harshad thought that money would come out of business from somewhere. The amount was quite huge and Harshad was a very self-sufficient man, he thought it was not right to ask for help from anyone. A trick came in his mind, it was illegal but by doing this he would have benefited a lot and he would probably also become the richest man in India. He took two thousand crore rupees on a loan from a government bank, he was renowned and he was a billionaire, so the bank was not sceptical in lending money to him. After setting up the entire business, Harshad gave a bribe of five crores to an employee of the bank and made every document related to that two thousand crores disappear. When there was a furore in the bank, it was found out that all the documents related to the two thousand crore rupees loan had gone missing, all the bank employees were astonished. The bank had gone bankrupt and many innocent people lost their money out of which many of them lost their hard-earned money
