Hindi to English Translation Exercise 40… ये ऐक्सरसाइज़ Hindi to English Translation Book से ली गयी है, जो कि नीचे दिये गये “Spoken English Guru” English Speaking Course की पुस्तकों में से एक है।

एक बार की बात है, शिवम नाम का लड़का रस्ते पर से जा रहा था। उसे माँ ने बाजार से चावल और सब्ज़ियाँ लाने को कहा था। माँ ने कहा था कि एक घंटे के अंदर घर आ जाना नहीं तो बहुत डांट पड़ेगी। शिवम को बाजार में भीड़ होने के कारण काफी समय लग गया। माँ को दरअसल घर आ रहे कुछ मेहमानों के लिए खाना बनाना था, घर में राशन ख़त्म होया हुआ था। जब सारा काम निपटा कर शिवम घर की ओर जा रहा था तब उसने देखा कि एक लाचार सा दिख रहा कुत्ता सड़क किनारे कराह रहा था। उसके पास जाने पर, शिवम ने पाया कि उसके पैर पर किसी ने गाड़ी चढ़ा दी थी जिससे उसका पैर बुरी तरह घायल हो गया था। उसके पैर से बहुत खून बह रहा था और शायद उसका दर्द बर्दाश्त के बाहर था। शिवम ने समय की चिंता न करते हुए तुरंत ही पास की एक दवाई की दुकान से पट्टी और दवाई खरीदी।  अपने दोस्त शिवानी को उसने फ़ोन करके बुलाया ताकि वो थोड़ी मदद कर सके। शिवानी का घर वहीं पास में ही था और उसके साथ ही साथ शिवानी के घर पे भी एक कुत्ता था तो उसे कुत्तों के बारे में थोड़ी सी जानकारी थी। शिवानी अपने घर से कुत्तों का खाना और कुछ कपड़े ले कर आई। शिवानी और शिवम ने मिलकर पहले उस कुत्ते के पैर पर पट्टी लगायी और उसके बाद उसे कुछ कपड़े पहनाये। ठंड बहुत होने के कारण भी कुत्ता बाहर बैठे हुए बीमार पड़ सकता था। शिवानी ने जो कुत्तों का खाना लाया था वो उस कुत्ते को खिलाया और उसके बाद उसे पानी भी पिलाया। इसके बाद उन्होंने एनिमल केयर संस्थान को फ़ोन  किया ,वे आये और उन्होंने शिवम और शिवानी की बहुत प्रशंसा की।  वे सही सलामत उस कुत्ते को अपने साथ ले गए। यह सब करते करते पूरे दो से तीन घंटे निकल गए और माँ घर पर शिवम का इतने देर से इंतज़ार कर रही थी। शिवम दौड़ा – दौड़ा घर पहुँचा तो देखा कि सारे मेहमान लज़ीज़ खाना खा रहे हैं। दरअसल, हुआ ये था कि शिवानी के घर शिवम की माँ ने फ़ोन किया था तो उन्हें पता चला की उनका बेटा कितना नेक काम कर रहा है। शिवानी की माँ शिवम के घर सामान ले कर आ गयी और दोनों ने मिलकर मेहमानों के लिए खाना बनाया। यह सब सुन कर शिवम हैरान रह गया लेकिन उसे ख़ुशी इस बात की थी कि उसने एक बेसहारा जानवर की मदद की और माँ का काम भी बिना किसी रुकावट के पूरा हो गया।

Translation

Once upon a time, a boy named Shivam was walking on the road. He was asked by his mother to bring rice and vegetables from the market. Mother had said that if she did not come home within an hour, he would be scolded. Shivam took a long time due to the excessive crowding in the market. The mother had to cook for some of the guests coming home, grocery items were over in the house. When Shivam was going towards the house after doing all the work, he saw that a helpless looking dog was moaning along the road. Upon getting closer to him, Shivam found that someone had run a car over his leg, which severely injured his leg. There was a lot of bleeding from his leg and perhaps his pain was unbearable. Shivam, without worrying about time, immediately bought bandages and medicine from a nearby medicine shop. He called his friend Shivani so that she could help a little bit. Shivani’s house was nearby and there was a dog at Shivani’s house as well, so she had some knowledge about dogs. Shivani brought the dogs’ food and some clothes from her house. Shivani and Shivam put a bandage on that dog’s feet first and then put him on some clothes. The dog could have gotten sick from sitting outside due to the cold. The dogs’ food that Shivani brought was fed to that dog and then she also fed him water. After this he called the animal care organisation, they came and praised Shivam and Shivani very much. They took the dog safely with them. While doing all this, the two to three hours passed and Mother was waiting for Shivam at home for so long. Shivam hurried home and saw that all the guests were eating delicious food. What happened is that Shivam’s mother called at Shivani’s home, then she came to know about the noble work her son was doing. Shivani’s mother brought items to Shivam’s house and the two together cooked food for the guests. Hearing about all this, Shivam was left shocked but he was happy for the cause that he helped a homeless animal and his mother’s work was also sorted out without any obstruction.
