Hindi to English Translation Exercise 39… ये ऐक्सरसाइज़ Hindi to English Translation Book से ली गयी है, जो कि नीचे दिये गये “Spoken English Guru” English Speaking Course की पुस्तकों में से एक है।

अभय और हितेश जुड़वा भाई थे। दोनों हर काम एक साथ करते थे, खाने से लेकर सोने और पढ़ने तक,सब कुछ दोनों साथ ही करते थे। पूरे मोहल्ले में सब लोग दोनों को बहुत अच्छे से जानते थे, यहाँ तक कि अपने स्कूल में भी वे बहुत प्रसिद्ध थे। दरअसल, जुड़वा होने के कारण वो दोनों इतने ज़्यादा एक जैसे दिखते थे कि दोनों में फर्क कर पाना बहुत ही मुश्किल था। यहाँ तक कि इनके माता पिता भी कभी – कभार इन दोनों को पहचानने में गलती कर देते थे। इससे कई परेशानी भी होती थी, अभय की गलती पर हितेश को डाट पड़ जाती और कभी – कभी हितेश के लिए लाई हुई चीज़ अभय को मिल जाती। एक बार क्या हुआ कि घर में चोर घुस आया, सब लोग सो रहे थे तो किसी को पता भी नहीं लगा। चोर दबे पाँव सारे सामान अपनी झोली में डाल कर निकलने ही वाला था कि तभी अभय की नींद खुल गयी। चुप के से जा के जब उसने देखा, तो चोर सारा सामान बाँध रहा था और बाहर निकलने की तैयारी कर रहा था। उसने हितेश को धीरे से नींद से जगाया और उसे पूरी बात बता के एक तरकीब बनाई। वह अचानक से चोर के सामने एक सफ़ेद चादर पहन कर आ गया। चोर उसे देख कर थोड़ा डर गया, अभय ने अपने चेहरे से चादर उठाया तो उसे देख चोर हँसने लगा। चोर को लगा कि एक छोटा बच्चा भला उसका क्या बिगाड़ पायेगा। अभय ने उसे कहा कि वो भूत है और तभी हितेश पीछे से हँसने लगा, यह देखकर चोर घबरा गया। एक ही शक्ल के दो लोग एक साथ देख कर,चोर का दिमाग काम करना बंद हो गया,वह बेहोश हो गया। इसके बाद दोनों बच्चों ने पहले माँ पापा को जगाया और फिर उसके बाद सबने पुलिस को फ़ोन किया। पुलिस ने आकर चोर को पकड़ा और साथ ही साथ बच्चों को उनकी बहादुरी के लिए उनकी बहुत प्रशंसा की। आने वाले 26 जनवरी के लिए बहादुर बच्चों को दिए जाने वाले पुरस्कार में अभय और हितेश का नाम पुलिस द्वारा प्रस्तावित किया गया।  अभय और हितेश की इस होशियारी से मोहल्ले के सभी बच्चे बहुत प्रोत्साहित हुए।

Translation

Abhay and Hitesh were twin brothers. Both used to do everything together, from eating to sleeping and reading, they used to do everything together. Everyone knew the two very well in the whole neighbourhood; even in their school they were pretty famous. Actually, due to being twins, they both looked so much alike that it was very difficult to differentiate between them. Even their parents sometimes made a mistake in identifying these two. There were many problems created due to this, Hitesh was scolded for Abhay’s mistake and sometimes Abhay would get something brought for Hitesh. Once it happened that a thief entered the house, everyone was sleeping, no one even came to know. The thief was about to leave with all the belongings in his bag when Abhay woke up. When he sneaked without making any noise, the thief was packing everything and preparing to go out. He woke Hitesh slowly and made a plan by telling him the whole thing. He suddenly appeared in front of the thief covering himself in a white bed sheet. The thief got a little scared to see him, Abhay removed the bed sheet from his face and the thief started laughing to see it. The thief felt that what a small child would not be able to do much against him. Abhay told him that he was a ghost and then Hitesh started laughing from behind, seeing that the thief got scared. Seeing two people of the same appearance together, the thief’s brain stopped working, he fainted. After this, both the children first woke up their parents and then after that everyone called the police. The police came and apprehended the thief and along with that praised the children for their bravery. The name of Abhay and Hitesh was proposed by the police in the award to the brave children for the then coming 26 January. All the children of the locality were greatly encouraged by this smartness of Abhay and Hitesh.
