Hindi to English Translation Exercise 28… ये ऐक्सरसाइज़ Hindi to English Translation Book से ली गयी है, जो कि नीचे दिये गये “Spoken English Guru” English Speaking Course की पुस्तकों में से एक है।

रोहित की आज लंदन की फ्लाइट थी, पहली बार विदेश जा रहा था तो थोड़ा सा सहमा हुआ था। रोहित के मामा की लंदन में कपड़ों की बहुत ही बड़ी फ़ैक्टरी थी। रोहित ने दिल्ली के किरोरीमल कॉलेज से अर्थ-शास्त्र में पढ़ाई की थी और शुरू से ही एक होनहार छात्र रहा था। रोहित को आगे लंदन यूनिवर्सिटी में पढ़ाई करनी थी लेकिन उसके पिताजी चाहते थे कि वह अपने घर का कारोबार संभाले। रोहित को एक शर्त पर लंदन जाकर पढ़ने का मौका मिला था कि वह पढ़ाई पूरी करने के बाद वहीं रहकर कारोबार संभालेगा।  रोहित को उद्योग में कुछ खास दिलचस्पी तो नहीं थी लेकिन पिताजी की बात का वह अनादर भी नहीं कर सकता था।  पूरे पंद्रह घंटे की यात्रा के बाद रोहित दिल्ली से लंदन पहुँचा जहाँ उसके मामा और मामी उसके स्वागत के लिए खड़े थे।  वहाँ पहुँचकर वहाँ की चमक – दमक देख कर वह हैरान रह गया। बड़ी – बड़ी इमारतें और शीशे से बने घर देख कर उसे ऐसा लगा कि मानो वह किसी दूसरी दुनिया में आ गया हो। रोहित की अंग्रेज़ी बड़ी ही शानदार थी इसलिए उसे वहाँ किसी से बात करने में कोई दिक्कत नहीं हो रही थी बल्कि ऐसा लग रहा था वह वहीं का निवासी हो।  यूनिवर्सिटी पहुँचने पर, उसकी आँखें खुली कि खुली रह गयी; इतना बड़ा कॉलेज उसने अपने जीवन में आज तक कभी नहीं देखा था, जहाँ लगभग हर देश से छात्र पढ़ने आते थे जिनमें कई भारतीय भी शामिल थे।

Translation

Rohit had a flight to London that day, he was going abroad for the first time so he was a little apprehensive. Rohit’s maternal uncle had a large clothing factory in London. Rohit had studied economics in Delhi from Kirorimal College and was a promising student from the beginning. Rohit wanted to study further at London University but his father wanted him to take over his family business. Rohit had the opportunity to go to London to study on one condition that after completing his studies, he would stay there and handle the business. Rohit was not particularly interested in the business but he could not even disrespect his father. After a full fifteen-hour journey, Rohit reached London from Delhi where his maternal uncle and aunt were waiting to welcome him. After reaching there, he was surprised to see the glitter and glitz there. Seeing big buildings and houses made of glass, he felt as if he had come to some other world. Rohit’s English was very good, so he did not have any problem in talking to anyone there rather it seemed that he was a native. Upon reaching the university, his eyes were left wide open; he had never seen a college so big in his life, where the students came from almost every country to study, including many Indians too.
