Hindi to English Translation Exercise 24… ये ऐक्सरसाइज़ Hindi to English Translation Book से ली गयी है, जो कि नीचे दिये गये “Spoken English Guru” English Speaking Course की पुस्तकों में से एक है।

अब सुमित थोड़ा बेहतर महसूस कर रहा था और करना भी चाहिए क्योंकि उसने इतनी कठिन परीक्षा के दो चरण सफलतापूर्वक पार किये थे।  हिमांशु ने सुमित की हर तरह से सहायता की और ये सुनिश्चित किया कि पढ़ाई के अलावा सुमित को कोई और काम न करना पड़े। मार्केट से सब्ज़ी लाना, कपड़े धोना वगैरह सभी छोटे मोटे काम हिमांशु कर दिया करता। सुमित पूरी मेहनत और लगन से तैयारी कर रहा था।  यह इंटरव्यू उसके लिए बहुत ही महत्वपूर्ण था, उसने पूरा जीवन आई० ए० एस० अधिकारी बनने का सपना देखा था। अचानक गाँव से खबर आयी कि बाढ़ के कारण सुमित के घर को भारी नुकसान हुआ है और पूरे गाँव में भारी तबाही हुई है। खबर मिलते ही सुमित ने पिताजी से बात की तो पता लगा कि स्थिति बहुत ही बदतर है।  सुमित के पिताजी ने उसे फिर भी हार  न मानने और अपनी तैयारी जारी रखने को कहा।  अपने जीवन के इतने महत्वपूर्ण मोड़ पर जिंदगी उसका कड़ा इम्तिहान ले रही थी। सुमित कुछ समय परेशान रहा लेकिन फिर उसने सोचा कि इस दल दल से निकलने का एक ही उपाय है; उसे यह परीक्षा किसी भी हालत में पार करनी होगी अन्यथा उसकी और उसके घर की स्थिति कभी नहीं सुधरेगी।  एक सप्ताह के अंदर, सिवान में बाढ़ का प्रकोप ख़त्म हुआ और सामान्य जीवन लौट आया।  कुछ ही दिन में इंटरव्यू था लेकिन अब एक और परेशानी खड़ी हो गयी।  सुमित के कम सोने के कारण वह बीमार पड़ गया और डॉक्टर ने उसे आराम करने की सलाह दी। हिमांशु ने हर प्रकार से सुमित का ख्याल रखा और एक तरह से एक भाई का फ़र्ज़ निभाया।  एग्ज़ाम से पाँच दिन पहले आखिर सुमित भला चंगा हो गया। लगभग दस दिन न पढ़ने के कारण सुमित का आत्मविश्वास थोड़ा डगमगा सा गया था लेकिन उसने अपना फोकस बनाये रखा। इंटरव्यू के दिन, थोड़ा सहमा और घबराया सा सुमित इंटरव्यू देने पहुँचा।  शालीनता के साथ सुमित ने सभी सवालों के जवाब दिए। उसकी सुध बुध से सभी बहुत प्रभावित हुए।  इतने कठिन परीक्षा में यह कह पाना मुश्किल था कि सुमित को सफलता हाथ लगेगी या नहीं। सभी बहुत ही उत्सुकता के साथ सुमित के परिणाम का इंतज़ार कर रहे थे और उसकी सफलता की दुआएँ माँग रहे थे।

Translation

Now Sumit was feeling slightly better and he should because he had successfully passed two stages of such a difficult exam. Himanshu assisted Sumit in every possible way and made sure that Sumit had no work to do except studying. Bringing vegetables from the market, washing clothes, etc.; Himanshu would do all such tasks. Sumit was preparing with his heart and soul. This interview was extremely important for him, he had dreamt of becoming an I.A.S. officer all his life. Suddenly news came from the village that Sumit’s house had suffered huge damage due to the flood and there was huge destruction in the entire village. As soon as Sumit got the news, he talked to his father and came to know that the situation was very bad. Sumit’s father still told him not to lose hope and continue his preparation. At such an important juncture of his life, life was giving him a tough test. Sumit was worried for some time but then he thought that there was only one way to get out of this abyss; he would have to pass this test at any cost otherwise his and his family’s situation would never improve. Within a week, the outbreak of floods ended and life came back to normalcy. The interview was in a few days but now another problem turned up. Due to Sumit’s lack of sleep, he fell ill and the doctor advised him to take rest. Sumit, while he lied down on the bed kept on thinking, when he would get well and start studying. Himanshu took care of Sumit in every way and in a way fulfilled the duty of a brother. Five days before the exam, Sumit finally got cured. Due to not studying for about ten days, Sumit’s confidence had faltered a bit but he maintained his focus. On the day of the interview, Sumit arrived for the interview a little scared and nervous.  Sumit answered all the questions politely. Everyone was very impressed by his presence of mind.  In such a difficult exam, it was difficult to say whether Sumit would succeed or not. Everyone was eagerly waiting for Sumit’s result and praying for his success.
