Hindi to English Translation Exercise 22… ये ऐक्सरसाइज़ Hindi to English Translation Book से ली गयी है, जो कि नीचे दिये गये “Spoken English Guru” English Speaking Course की पुस्तकों में से एक है।

सुमित, भगवान की पूजा करके और फ़ोन पर माँ पिताजी का आशीर्वाद लेकर, घर से निकला। रास्ते में उसे ट्रैफिक का सामना करना पड़ा और एक पल को उसे लगा कि शायद वह परीक्षा के लिए देर हो जाये। किसी तरह सुमित निर्धारित समय से पाँच मिनट पहले परीक्षा सेंटर पर पहुँच गया।  अपनी जगह पर जाकर, उसने एक गहरी साँस ली और शांति से बैठ गया। जब घड़ी में नौ बजे तो प्रश्न पत्र उसके सामने आया और उसे देखकर वह दंग रह गया।  सुमित को यह विश्वास नहीं हो रहा था कि उसे लगभग सभी प्रश्नों के उत्तर आते थे। वह ख़ुशी से फूले नहीं समा रहा था।  अपने मन को शांत कर के, उसने लिखना शुरू किया और तय समय सीमा से दस मिनट पहले ही उसका पेपर पूरा हो गया। उसने सारे सवालों के जवाब लिख लिए थे। कोई गलती न रह गयी हो इसलिए उसने एक बार फिर सारे जवाबों की जाँच कर ली। परीक्षा समाप्त होने के बाद, जब वो परीक्षा हॉल से निकला तो उसने देखा कि सभी छात्र चर्चा कर रहे थे। उसने सीधा मेट्रो पकड़ी और घर की ओर रवाना हो गया।  हिमांशु भी कुछ देर बाद घर पहुँचा।  दोनों ने एक दूसरे से पूछा कि उनकी परीक्षा कैसी हुई। जब सुमित ने हिमांशु को बताया कि उसने एक भी प्रश्न नहीं छोड़ा तो हिमांशु दंग रह गया और उसे लगा कि इस बार सुमित शायद पूरे देश में अव्वल आ सकता है।

Translation

Sumit, after worshipping God and taking blessings from his parents over the phone, left home. He had to face traffic on the way and for a while he thought he might get late for the exam. Somehow, Sumit reached the exam centre five minutes before the scheduled time. Going up to his seat, he took a deep breath and sat down. When the clock struck nine, the question paper came in front of him and he was amazed by seeing it. Sumit couldn’t believe that he knew the answers of almost all the questions. He was extremely overjoyed. Keeping his mind relaxed, he started writing the answers and his paper got completed ten minutes before the scheduled time limit. He had written the answers to all the questions. To avoid any error, he rechecked all his answers. After the exam got over, when he came out of the exam hall, he saw that all the students were discussing about it. He immediately boarded the metro and headed towards home. Himanshu also reached home after some time. Both of them asked each other about how their exam went. When Sumit told Himanshu that he didn’t leave even a single question, Himanshu got stunned and he thought that this time Sumit might be the topper in the whole country.
