Magnificent (adj.) – मैग्निफिसेंट – ज़बरदस्त / विशाल – Great / Huge

धोनी ने कई बार दबाव में बहुत ही ज़बरदस्त पारी खेल कर भारत को जिताया है।
Dhoni had won India a number of matches by playing magnificent knocks in pressure situations.
ताज महल को देख कर, यह विश्वास करना मुश्किल है कि इतनी ज़बरदस्त इमारत भी बनायीं जा सकती है।
After seeing the Taj Mahal, it is hard to believe that even such a magnificent monument could be made.

Major (adj.) – मेजर – बड़ा – Main / Chief

ऋषि ने जो निर्णय लिया है वो उसके जीवन में काफी बड़ा साबित हो सकता है।
The decision that has been taken by Rishi, could prove to a major one for his life.
बच्चों को सही शिक्षा देना, उनके लिए बड़ा महत्व रखता है।

रितिका जिस इमारत में रहती है, वह बहुत ही विशाल है।
The building in which Ritika lives is mammoth.

Mandatory (adj.) – मैंडेटरी – ज़रूरी / अनिवार्य – Must / Necessary

अमेरिका जाने के लिए, पासपोर्ट होना अनिवार्य है।
To travel to the United States, having a passport is mandatory.
अगर किसी को सड़क पर गाड़ी चलानी है तो उसके लिए ड्राइविंग लाइसेंस बनाना अनिवार्य है।
If anyone wants to drive a car on the road, then they must make a driving license.

Manipulate (vt.) – मैनिपुलेट – चालाकी से काम करना, हेरफेर करना – To distort/alter

कई लोग हमें गुमराह कर देते हैं और वह बड़ी चालाकी से करते हैं कि यह अहसास ही नहीं होता
Many people misguide us, and they do that in a manipulative way that we aren’t even able to feel.

Manoeuvre (n.) – मैन्युवर – कुशलता / चालाकी – Proficiency / Skills

शुभांगी बड़ी चालाकी से अपना काम निकालते हुए, कंपनी में ऊँचे ओहदे पर चली गयी।
Shubhangi maneuvered his way to the top post in the company in a cunning way.
कई बड़े व्यापारी, बड़ी चालाकी से काम करके टैक्स बचा लेते हैं।

Manual (n.) – मैनुअल – हाथ से किया गया काम / छोटी किताब – Guide / Rule / Law

आज कल हाथ से किये जाने वाले कामों की जगह कंप्यूटर ने या मशीन ने ले ली है।
Nowadays, manually done work is being replaced by computers and machines.

Maraud (vti.) – मरौड – लूटना – Rob / Loot

भारतीय जहाज को अफ्रीका में समुद्री डाकुओं ने लूट लिया।
Indian ship was marauded by pirates in Africa.

Marvelous (adj.) – मार्वलस – बहुत ज़बरदस्त / शानदार – Awesome / Fantastic

मेस्सी ने कल के मैच में बहुत ही ज़बरदस्त गोल किया और अपनी टीम को जीताया।
Messi scored a marvelous goal in yesterday’s match and made his team victorious.
श्रुति एक बहुत ही बढ़िया लेखक है और उसने कुछ बहुत ही ज़बरदस्त कहानियां लिखी हैं।
Shruti is an outstanding writer, and she has written some marvellous stories.

Massacre (n.) – मैसेकर – नरहत्या – Slaughter

हिटलर के समय में निर्दयी तरीके से यहूदियों की नर हत्या की जाति थी।
In the times of Hitler, Jewish people were killed brutally in a massacre.
जंगलों में हाथियों एवं और जानवरों के निर्मम हत्या की जाती है ताकि उनकी खाल और दाँत को बेचा जा सके।
The elephants and other animals in the jungle are brutally killed in massacres, after which their teeth and skin could be sold.

Massive (adj.) – मैसिव – गंभीर / बड़े पैमाने पर – Severe / Large scale

उसकी मौत गंभीर दिल का दौरा पड़ने से हुई थी।
He had died of a massive heart attack.
देश के टेलीफोन नेटवर्क को आधुनिक बनाने के लिए बड़े पैमाने पर निवेश की आवश्यकता है।

Masque (n.) – मास्क – घूंघट / बनावटी चेहरा – Puppetshow

खेल के दौरान, दर्शक अपने पसंदीदा खिलाड़ियों का मुखौटा बना कर पहनते हैं।
During the game, people in the audience wear masques of their favourite players.
किसी की रैली के दौरान, उस नेता का मुखौटा पहन कर प्रचार किया जाता है।
During the campaign of a leader, his/her masque is worn for publicity.

Materialize (v.) – मटीरियलाइज़ – सच कर देना, साकार कर देना – To make happen

उसने सोचा और सच कर दिया।
He thought and materialized.
मैं सपने साकार कर दूँगा।
I will materialize the dreams.

Matrimony (n.) – मैट्रिमनी – विवाह – Wedding / Marriage / Wedlock

आज कल कई लोग विवाह के लिए बनी वेबसाइट पर अपना जीवन साथी तलाश करते हैं।

Mean (n.) – मीन – इरादा / साधन – Purpose / Medium

हमारे देश में परिवहन के अनेक साधन हैं।
There are various means of transport in our country.

Measure (v.) – मैश़र – उपाय करना / मापना – To take initiatives /To calculate

हमें अपने पर्यावरण की रक्षा के लिए उपाय करने की आवश्यकता है।
We need to take measures to protect our environment.
वैज्ञानिक तारों के बीच की दूरी को प्रकाश वर्ष में मापते हैं।
The scientists measure the distance between stars in light years.

Meddle (vt.) – मेडल – दखल देना / दखल अंदाजी – Disturb

पुनीत हर किसी की निजी चीज़ों में दखल देता है और यही कारण है कि उससे कोई बात करने की इच्छा नहीं दिखाते।
Puneet meddles in everyone’s personal affairs, and that’s the reason why no one is interested in talking to him.
सुनील ने जब प्रीति के घर के मामले में दखल दिया तो उनके रिश्ते में दरार आ गयी और उनके बीच दूरियाँ बढ़ गयी।
When Sunil meddled with the household affairs of Preeti, then there was a problem in their relationship, and that led to them being more farther from each other.

Mentor (n.) – मैन्टॉर – गुरु / उस्ताद / परामर्शदाता / सलाहकार – Advisor, Teacher

वो मेरे गुरु थे जब मैंने 2012 में कंपनी ज्वाइन की थी।
He was my mentor when I had joined the company in 2012.
कोई भी उस्ताद आलसी व्यक्ति को प्रशिक्षित करना पसंद नहीं करता है।
No mentor likes to train a lazy person.

Mercy (n.) – मर्सी – दया / तरस – Pity / Compassion

कानूनी विशेषज्ञों से सलाह लेने के बाद राष्ट्रपति ने दया याचिका खारिज कर दी।
The President rejected the mercy petition after consulting legal experts.
राजा ने अपने शत्रुओं पर कोई तरस नहीं दिखलाई।
The king showed no mercy on his enemies.

Merely (adv.) – मेअर्ली – बस / महज़ – Just / Only

मैं तो बस आपकी मदद करने की कोशिश कर रहा था।
I was merely trying to help you.
वो अब केवल एक अच्छी दोस्त है मेरी।
She is now merely a good friend of mine.

Meritorious (adj.) – मेरिटोरियस – गुणी – Genius

प्रयाग बहुत गुणी है, थोड़ी सी मेहनत से वो पास हो जायेगा।
Prayag is exceptionally meritorious; with just a bit more effort, he will pass.
नताशा बहुत गुणी खिलाड़ी है, बस उसे सही दिशा मिल जाए तो वह बहुत आगे जाएगी।
Natasha is an exceptionally meritorious player; if she just gets proper guidance, then she will go a long way.

Mess (n.) – मैस – झमेला / भोजनालय – Disorder / Canteen

मन की शांति के लिए हमें इस झमेले को सुलझाने की जरूरत है।
We need to sort out this mess to have peace of mind.
हॉस्टल में रहने वाले छात्रों के लिए मेस में भोजन करना आवश्यक होगा।

Midst (n.) – मिड्स्ट – बीच में – In between

A person shouted amid the speech.

Mighty (adj.) – माइटी – शक्तिशाली – Powerful / Strong

आज के समय में जिसके पास धन और दिमाग है, वही शक्तिशाली है।
In today’s time, the one who has money and the brain is the mighty one.
अमेरिका के पास बहुत परमाणु हथियार हैं इसलिए वह बहुत ही शक्तिशाली है।
The United States has many nuclear weapons, and that’s why it is so mighty.

Mild (n.) – माइल्ड – हल्‍का / सौम्य – Moderate / Gentle

विशेषज्ञों के अनुसार पुदीना एक हल्का एंटीसेप्टिक है।
According to the experts, mint is a mild antiseptic.
राजेश का दोस्त बहुत ही सौम्य स्वभाव का है।
Rajesh’s friend is of a very mild nature.

Mind (n.& v.) – माइन्ड – विचार/ आपत्ति होना – Thought / To get annoyed

नेहा ने अंतिम समय में अपना विचार बदल दिया।
Neha changed her mind at the last minute.
अगर मैं उनकी किताबें उधार लेता हूँ तो उन्हें कोई आपत्ति नहीं होगी।
He will not mind if I borrow his books.

Mine (pron.& n.) – माइन – मेरी / खदान – My own / Pit

तुम्हारी पेन मेरी पेन से बेहतर है।
Your pen is better than that of mine.
हम दोनों बचपन में एक कोयला खदान में काम करते थे।
We worked in a coal mine in childhood.

Minority (n.) – माइनॉरिटी – अल्पसंख्यक/ अल्पमत –Under-populated

आज भी कई देशों में अल्पसंख्यकों का तिरस्कार किया जाता है।
Minorities are despised in many countries even today.
विधायकों के पार्टी छोड़ने के कारण राज्‍य सरकार अल्पमत में आ गई।
The state government was reduced to a minority as legislators left the party.

Miracle (n.) – मिरकल – चमत्कार – Wonder

जब सारी उम्मीदें ख़तम हो जाती हैं तब सब बस किसी चमत्कार की उम्मीद करते हैं।
When all the hopes come to an end, then everyone expects for a miracle to happen.
कई लोग बिना मेहनत किये पूरी ज़िंदगी निकाल देते है, बस ये सोच के कि कोई चमत्कार होगा और उनकी ज़िंदगी बदल जाएगी।
Many people spend their entire lives without working hard, just thinking about that miracle will happen with them and their life will be changed.

Mire (n.) – मायर – दलदल / कीचड़ – Mud / Sludge

बहुत ही ज़्यादा भारी बारिश होने से, कच्चे रास्ते में कीचड़ बन गया है जिससे अपनी गाड़ी को निकल ले जाना बहुत ही मुश्किल साबित हो रहा है।
Due to excessively heavy rainfall, mire has been formed on the raw roads, which have made it difficult to get the car through it.
गड्ढे के पास एक दल दल था जिसका पता रवीना को नहीं चला, गलती से पैर पड़ते ही वह धीरे-धीरे उसमें धंसती चली गयी।
There was a mire near the hole which was not realized by Raveena, by mistake when she stepped on it,she started sinking into it slowly.

Mobile (adj. & n.) – मोबाइल – गतिशील / मोबाइल फोन – Moving / Mobile Phone

भारत में गतिशील चिकित्सा क्लीनिक स्वास्थ्य देखभाल के लिए उपयोगी मॉडल हैं।
In India, mobile medical clinics are useful models for health care.
आजकल ज्यादातर युवाओं के पास मोबाइल फोन हैं।
Nowadays most of the young people have mobile phones.

Mockery (n.) – मौकरी – हंसी / उपहास – Fun / Derision / Joke

जिस तरह की हरकत पूजा ने कक्षा में की, उसके बाद वह हर जगह हंसी और मज़ाक का पात्र बन गयी।
The act that Pooja did in the class made her a subject of mockery and laughter.
अगर किसी को कोई परेशानी है या कुछ कमी है तो उस पर हँसने या मज़ाक उड़ने के जगह पर, हमें उसकी मदद करनी चाहिए।
If someone has any problem or any faults, then instead of laughing at them or making a mockery of them, we should help them.

Moderate (adj.) – मॉडरेट – उदारवादी /मध्यम – Modest/Medium

श्री अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी के राजनीतिक विचार काफी उदारवादी थे।
The political views of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee were quite moderate.
पालक को मध्यम आँच पर पकाया जाना चाहिए।
Spinach should be cooked over a moderate heat.

Momentary (adj.) – मॉमेंट्री – क्षणिक / एक पल का – Transient / Temporary

घात लगाए बैठे शेर, हिरन के उस क्षणिक मौके का इंतज़ार करते हैं जब वो पलक झपकाएं और झट से शेर उस पर हमला कर उसे खा जाए।
The piercing lion waits for the momentary opportunity by the deer when it just blinks its eye, and all of a sudden, it would attack it and eat.
जीवन के कुछ सुनहरे पल, एक पल के हों ऐसे ही लगते हैं , इतनी जल्दी बीत जाते हैं कि कभी पता ही नहीं लगता।
The glorious moments of life feel so momentary, it feels like it’s just a split second ,they pass on so quickly that we don’t even realise.

Monitor (v. & n.) – मॉनिटर – निगरानी करना / मॉनिटर – To watch / Monitor

कई कंपनियां अपने कर्मचारियों की इंटरनेट गतिविधि की निगरानी करती हैं।
Many companies monitor their employees’ internet activity.
मॉनिटर कंप्यूटर का हिस्सा होता है जिसमें स्क्रीन दिखाई देती है।
Monitor is a part of computer in which the screen appears.

Monopoly (n.) – मनॉपली – एकाधिकार – Controlled by one

सरकारी संपत्ति पर किसी का एकाधिकार नहीं है। आप उन्हें नष्ट नहीं कर सकते।
No one has the monopoly on government assets. You can’t destroy them.
अगर यहां केवल एक कंपनी होती, तो बाजार में इसका एकाधिकार होता।
Had there been only one company here, it would have had monopoly in market.

Monotony (n.) – मनोटोनी – एक स्वर / एक आवाज़ / नीरस – Tastelessness

हम आज कल घर पर बैठे – बैठे नीरसता का शिकार हो गए हैं, इस से बचने के लिए हमें अपने दोस्त – परिवार और सभी प्रिय लोगों से बात करनी चाहिए।
We all have become a victim of monotony sitting at home the entire day these days; to save ourselves from this, we should talk to our friends, relatives, and dear ones.
अपनी नीरस नौकरी से तंग आकर, समीर ने अपनी नौकरी छोर दी और अपने पसंद का काम करने लगा जिसमे उसे बहुत मज़ा आता था।
After being fed up from the monotony of his job, Sameer left his job and started doing the work in which he had an interest, and he enjoyed doing it.

Motive (n.) – मोटिव – उद्देश्य / मकसद – Purpose / Reason

यह घटना राजनीतिक उद्देश्यों से प्रेरित थी।
This incident was stimulated by political motives.

मनरेगा योजना का मकसद रोजगार देकर गरीबों की मदद करना था।
The motive behind MNREGA scheme was to help the poor by providing employment.

Mould (n. & v.) – मॉल्ड – साँचा / ढालना – Container / To shape

चॉकलेट के मिश्रण को दिल के आकार के साँचे में डालें।
Pour the chocolate mixture into a heart-shaped mold.
हमें परिस्थितियों के अनुसार खुद को ढालना चाहिए।
We should mould ourselves according to the situations.

Movement (n.) – मूवमेंट – आंदोलन / आवागमन – Agitation / Mobility

मलाला ने महिलाओं के अधिकारों के लिए आंदोलन चलाया।
Malaala launched a movement for women’s rights.
‘अनलॉक 1’ के दौरान देश भर में रात 9 बजे से सुबह 5 बजे तक आवागमन प्रतिबंधित था।
During ‘Unlock 1’, the movement across the country was restricted from 9 pm to 5 am.

Mutual (adj.) – म्यूचुअल – आपसी / पारस्परिक – Common / Reciprocal

हम दोनों ने आपसी सहमति से शादी कर ली।
Both of us got married by mutual consent.
पारस्परिक समझ शांति को बढ़ावा देती है।
Mutual understanding promotes peace.

Mystery (n.) – मिस्ट्री – रहस्य /पहेली – Secret / Riddle
